I am grateful for...

Hey Lovelies!

Today is a day for giving thanks and appreciating all of the blessings that you have.  I find that everyone overlooks the little things in life and we go by our day without giving a second thought to how many blessings we have.  From the computer you are reading this in, to the roof that is currently above your head, to the food you eat, we all have so much that we take for granted.

I know that as a teenager living in a world where globalization is so common, life has become a whirlwind of jealousy and trying to out-due another person.  We fail to realize how much we have and how little others have.

So all I ask is that you take this moment to reflect on all of the positive things or people or moments that you have in your life.  I have a family, friends, food, a house.  I have an education, a blog that I love, opportunities to excel, intelligence.  I have a grandmother that is alive, and three angels in heaven looking after me.  I have laughter, two working legs and arms, energy to work.  I have happiness and joy.  I have everything that is needed to survive and so much more.

Not all of us have the ability to buy whatever we want and have whatever we want.  Not all of us are fortunate enough to live a grandiose life full of luxuries and perks.  But we all have people around to love and care for us, whether you realize it or not.

Life is not always easy, the past few months have been, honestly, a living hell for me.  Life is not always going to hand you whatever you want on a silver platter.  Life will give you opportunities and the ability to be successful and do what you want, when the time is right.  Life will give you little moments of happiness, when you have a great conversation with a friend, when you get an A+ on that test you worked so hard for, and even that sunset where nature looks so beautiful and serene.

So count your blessings, tell everyone around you that you love them, and don't take anything for granted.  We don't like to think about it, but tomorrow it could all be taken away.  I hope that you all have a great thanksgiving filled with love, joy, and gratitude to last a lifetime!

Christmas Wishlist

Hey Lovelies.

So... Christmas is coming up!  Christmas is a time to celebrate our savior Jesus Christ and his coming down from Heaven to be incarnated in the Virgin Mary and save us from all our sins.  But, we also celebrate this time of the year by giving each other presents to show how much we appreciate each other.  I was asked what I wanted for Christmas this year, in my family we each get one major gift and come candies in a stocking.  But I couldn't really choose what to ask for, so I have made a wishlist of things that I may need or want.

I know that Christmas is not about presents and material goods, but it is a nice part of the Holiday season that we all look forward to {don't lie, you know you love presents}.

~ 1 ~
Women's Flex Appeal - Sweet Spot
New Running Shoes
So this year I have been running lots.  If you know anything about running, then you know that shoes are very important in terms of running because they can determine whether you get certain injuries and shoes can really make or break your running.  Anything running would be great, such as running clothes, an arm band, etc. but running shoes are kind of a necessity as my old ones are getting worn out.

Clothes, Makeup, and Girly Things
If you follow me on Pinterest then you know what this entails.  Clothes, I love fashion, that's why I named my blog, and it is something that I enjoy and getting new clothes would be awesome {haven't bought clothes in months}.  I am going for the Gabi DeMartino and Arianna Grande style.  Makeup is something that I also enjoy and don't have much of.  I really love makeup and every girly girl enjoys it.  And finally girly things.  Anything from some candles or body sprays, to a satin robe, to a vintage knickknack would really show me that this person knows me well.... and they saw my Pinterest!

~ 3 ~
Simply Shabby Chic® Ruched Comforter Set
New Bedding
My bedding is getting kind of old and it would be really nice to have a brand new bed set that is not only more my style but that goes with who I am rather than something that I don't feel comfortable with.  I really want white or cream bedding so that my room looks fresh and chic.

~ 4 ~
New "Everday Shoes"
I am not someone that consistently goes out to buy things, so I really need some new shoes, if you can't tell.  Some new shoes that go with almost everything and are really comfortable is something that would really benefit me.  My poor Bobs are about to fall apart and after almost two years I think they need to be retired.  If anything a pair of $10 slippers for the house would also be a good place to start.

So basically, I just really want everything that's on my Pinterest!  I know that recently my Pinterest has been all over the place  because I been trying to "expand my horizons" but honestly that isn't me.  I definitely have more of the girly sense of style and next year I want to leave the little girl behind and finally feel more myself.  Anything that will help me better myself, make me healthier, help me feel girly and comfortable, and something that the other person genuinely thought of me when getting is all that I want.

Let me know in the comments below what you are asking for this Christmas!

Sewing: Beginners Guide

Hello Lovelies!

Today I want to talk about one of my absolute favorite things on this planet: sewing!  We all have to start somewhere, right?  I just want to give those of you who are afraid to venture into the realm of sewing a quick as to where to start, what to get, where to get it, etc.

One of the many questions people ask me about sewing is how I started.  Well, my great-grandmother {God bless her soul} and my grandmother both sewed/sew.  When I was really young maybe seven or eight I got very interested in sewing and was always watching them, asking them questions, and just observing what they did.  Finally when I was nine they allowed me to get in front of a machine and sew my heart away.  Ever since then I have learned a lot from them, but I have also had to teach myself a lot of things.  Because my grandmother doesn't focus on clothing, she sells mostly custom home crafts such as baby blankets and throw pillows, I had to learn about sewing clothing mostly on my own.

Don't get me wrong, I am still learning and progressing my sewing, but I have come a very, very long way.  Some of my inspirations are {of course} Coco Chanel, but also smaller designers like 13-year-old Isabella Rose Taylor.

But not all of us have a creative bone {which isn't necessary for sewing} or someone to help get them started.  Which is why I wanted to make this post.  Please feel free to leave comments below asking me about sewing or anything that I mention in this post.

~ How do you start? ~
I think the best place to start is hand sewing.  Even I still struggle with hand sewn hems and certain stitches, but it is the best place to start.  Hand sewing is basically using a needle and thread to make a project.  A lot of have the misconception that sewing is all done on a machine.  NOPE!  A lot of the most important aspects have many projects are done by hand.

Then you can buy yourself a generic sewing machine, even one from Walmart will suffice.  My first sewing machine came as a packaged deal, similar to a buy one get one free.  Nothing special.  This machine should come with all the basics, a universal foot, a zipper foot, a universal needle, an instructions manual, etc.

Learning how to sew is probably the tricky part.  You can take a class and have someone teach you how to use your machine or you can teach yourself.  Read your manual and slowly begin to experiment with different fabrics and projects.  It will take a lot of time, but it is soooo worth it!  {I pinky promise}  You will need a very good sewing ripper if you decide to take this route.

~ Where do I go? ~
The best well-known fabric and crafting store that is located across the United States is Jo-Ann Fabric.  They offer basic sewing classes, an awesome selection of fabrics, and almost everything you need to make awesome projects.  If you don't have a Jo-Ann Fabrics near you, look online for a fabric store near you.  As a last resort, they do sell fabric online.  The only thing I will warn you about buying fabric online is that you won't be able to feel the fabric before you get it.  You may be thinking that is unimportant, but the type of fabric you use, the material it is made of, and it's texture is essential to a lot of pieces

~ What do I get? ~
To start off, get yourself a sewing basket to put all of your small parts, bobbins, threads, needles, scissors, etc. in.  You can find these in Walmart for really inexpensive or you can find very elaborate ones.  Next, basic sewing supplies.  This consists of fabric scissors {no you cannot use Target brand safety scissors from your kids kindergarten class}, threads {black, navy, white, just simple everyday colors}, needles for your hand sewing and machine sewing, pins, and a pin cushion{you could also make one for yourself}.

One of the most important things you will need, especially if you are learning alone is a book about sewing.  I don't have one specific book, but try and find something that includes all the basics and a little more.  The internet is a great resource, but it is not always the most reliable place.

As you progress with sewing you may want to start buying things such as specific fabric, patterns, cutting mat, rotary cutter, sewing chalk, etc.

~ What is my first project? ~
Starting is always the hardest part.  Now you have all of these supplies and you have no clue what to do.  I would say the best project to start with, for anyone, is making yourself a pin cushion.  I still have my old pin cushion from when I was nine.  You can find a lot of tutorials out there for hand sewn pincushions.  They are useful and will progress with you as you continue to learn and develop your techniques.

I hope this helps you guys out and encourage you to go and start sewing, or even doing something you have always wanted to do.  You don't have to be creative, but you have to be passionate and patient.  The rest will come with time.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Fashion on a Budget

Hello Lovelies!

I constantly get so many questions about how I find clothes at extremely low prices and how I am able to find such great deals.  Since I don't go shopping often, you guys don't get to see too many hauls from me or fashion posts.  But when I do go shopping I will often find things for $5, $8, and my price range for a full budget of clothes is $15 - $20.

Here are some of my tips for spending less money when shopping!

~ 1 ~
You will find so many great pieces in the clearance section.  They are very, very hard to come by, but when you do they are gorgeous.  This is more of a hit or miss situation.  This section of the store won't always be the best place, but you will find amazing deals on clothing that is only a few weeks out of season.

~ 2 ~
There is no need to go out and systematically search for coupons.  If you get a coupon in the mail such as 20% off and Buy One Get One Free, clip them.  Even the smallest of discounts are helpful in getting the overall price down.  There are many ways to sneak several discounts into one shopping trip.  So don't forget to use your coupons and sign up for the emails and the mails.

~ 3 ~
Never underestimate the power of a sale.  Black Friday is not the only day that sales are great for.  You can really find things that are possibly less than on Black Friday on typical days.  I have found things that are only $3 when in reality they could have been $20.  If you really look, you will find things that are for less than you will ever think of.

I hope you guys got some tips and tricks out of this.  Please note that there are a few more ways to find discounts, but I think those just come with time and are sometimes unique to the store.  You don't have to go to thrift stores or actual discount stores to find really great deals.

If you have any more tips on getting discounts do leave them in the comments below so that we can all learn from each other.

Fall Nails

Hello Lovelies.

So I did this super fun fall nail design that I thought I would share with you all.  I got the idea from the link listed below, it was super easy and really fun to do.  This was done all by myself and I am currently in the process of growing out my nails, so don't judge them for being so short.

Let me know what nails you are rocking this fall.

Classy and Sassy: Dealing with Bullying

Hey Lovelies!

Today I want to tell you guys about something that has affected way too many of us, bullying.  Whether we have been the victim, the bully, or the bystander, at one point or another the majority of us have been exposed to bullying.  If we are all honest, everyone has been in each position, whether we like to admit it or not.  But especially recently bullying has been affecting the lives of young people everywhere due to social media and globalization.

Many of us struggle dealing with the emotional and physical harm that comes with bullying but we all have to find the best way to deal with it and get it out of our way.  No one should live having to tolerate any type of bullying and we should know when to stand up for ourselves and demand respect.

But first I want to give a brief history as to my experience with bullying.  I have been bullied, been the person bullying, and I have been a bystander as well.  When I was in elementary school especially I used to tease people who teased me, and I don't like to admit it, but I did.  I learned how much this hurt when I grew up and to this day I regret ever making mean or rude comments.  I am glad to say that this is no longer something that I have to deal with and for the most part I get along with people quite well. Especially when I was in middle school I was constantly bullied about my height, my grades, my interests, and my personality.  I always dealt with it in a very reserved manner, told a teacher or adult and never spoke about it again. This has always worked for me because I rid myself of the problem and never have to deal with that particular person again.

So now that you know my story I want to tell you all how I got through the rough patches of my life, at least when dealing with bullying.  Many people believe that bullying is done to those that exhibit some type of weakness among their peers and I can tell you this is not always true.  Everyone, whether it is the most popular girl in school or the shy girl in the back of the class, has been bullied or is being bullied.  With that in mind, don't bully or even make a mean comment.  It is unnecessary and you may be hurting this person more than you think, no matter the facade they put up.

If you are being bullied, tell someone trustworthy.  No, not your best friend that you met two weeks ago, or that guy from the grocery store, or even a family friend.  The best people to go to are parents, teachers, guidance counselors, and friends that you know will help make the right decision.  Whatever you do, tell someone that you trust and will aid you in receiving the help you need. But don't simply rely on them, make sure that you defend yourself.  I know that the other person may seem scary, but they are humans just like you and they appeal to emotions as well..

My last piece of advice is to change your mindset.  The reason people are affected by bullying is that they bother to care.  Unless it is something physical and you cannot get out of it, most emotional pain can be avoided by taking into account that the other person is just being immature and doesn't know how to deal with their own conflicting emotions.  This can be very difficult, I would know, but it is not impossible.  You don't have to listen to people that have no influence on the future of your life and you do not have to withstand their inability to be kind to others.

I really hope this helps some of you guys.  Remember that if someone tells you that they are being bullied please help them and allow them to deal with their emotions.  We all deserve to move on and emotional damage is very difficult to recover from.

So be kind, courteous, and genuine.  People all around you are being bullied and you may make their day that much better with a simple smile, a thank you, or a small conversation.

Changing and Rearranging

Hello Lovelies.

For the longest time I have been trying my hardest to change myself and become the classy lady that I have always wanted to be.  My life goal was to be the best me that I could be.  But due to a recent turn of events my priorities shifted.  Life became so involved in things that had nothing to do with my goal that I became extremely side tracked.  Not only did I loose sight of who I am but I lost sight of the amazing person that I had worked so hard to become.

I was so lost that I even began to let my grades slip.  My life began to fall apart starting with a very sudden mood swing that progressed to become a daily thing and then soon after I could no longer look at myself in the mirror and see the same confident, well groomed, educated young lady I had seen so many times before.

In my struggle to try and find myself again I have come across more obstacles than I can count.  Everything has felt like it is coming undone, from my religious life, to my personal life, to my social and school life,  It had taken me a very long time to pick myself up before and now I am starting back from square one.  As I have tried to do several times by myself, I will change and be a better person.  But first I have to get out of my little procrastinator-lazy-unhygienic-loser-self and seek guidance and assistance that I have never sought before.

So I am going to change and rearrange my life until it all clicks, like a Rubik's Cube.

Life can sometimes can turn into a big mess, but what counts is that we pick ourselves up, brush the dirt off, and get back in the saddle.  I was watching the show Hart of Dixie, which features some of my favorite characters that I have always looked up to, when I realized how far I had come from myself.  Lemon Breeland, one of the main characters, is this ambitious, classy, southern belle who will not allow anyone to get in her way and stop her from being the respected woman she is.  I am going to follow in her footsteps and keep my integrity.

We all have one life to live and we cannot allow this life to pass us by.  If there is a change you wish to make, don't let anything or anyone get in your way because I promise is very difficult to start back from where you started.  I know that I have been lacking on post for this blog but I want to be honest and let it be clear what is going on in this crazy head of mine.

So just remember, if you want to change, do it because this moment is the only real time we have, the future is not a guarantee.

xoxo, Ana
